Common Orlando AC Problems and Solutions

June 13, 2016

We’ve discussed a few of the most common air conditioning problems Orlando faces, but today we are here to tell you about some common air conditioner troubles that you can help troubleshoot.

Your air conditioner is on but not releasing cool air.

If your air conditioning system is running but not truly cooling, you might need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is required to make sure the air blowing from the system is really cool and keeps your family comfortable. Low refrigerant is often an indicator of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.

One way to verify if you are low on refrigerant is to go to your A/C system and locate the two copper pipes. If the larger of the two is “sweating” or giving off condensation, put your hand on the pipe and feel if it’s cold. If it’s cold to the touch, you are most likely good to go and do not need extra refrigerant.

If you’re unsure or the pipe is not producing condensation and is not cold when you place your hand on it, call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll pay you a visit and check your refrigerant levels and find out why your air conditioner is not blowing cool air. Keep in mind, only an EPA Certified technician should work on refrigerant for central air conditioners, due to the risks of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.

You air condenser fan isn’t rotating.

There are several reasons your condenser fan might not be turning. One could be that it just burned out and you have to get a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another problem to look out for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is blocked. If you can verify these things, you may be able to locate the issue; but, if not, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can find out what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and walk you through your options to get your air conditioner problem fixed.

Your A/C is not providing adequate air cooling.

It sounds crazy, but try lowering your thermostat. It seems absurd but sometimes it’s easy to forget the obvious. If that doesn’t get your home cooling and comfortable again, check and get a new air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause serious cooling troubles. Another problem that could be causing your lack of cooling is an air conditioner that is not sized correctly, and unfortunately this is an all-too-common issue when homes are built. Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is happy to come out and do an analysis to confirm whether or not the size of your A/C system is causing your issues.

Air Conditioner shuts on and off repeatedly

If your A/C system is short cycling, or turning on or off consistently, it could mean one of multiple things. One option is that your condenser or evaporator is obstructed or dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the system is cleaned and all obstructions moved away, you may be back to a regular running system. Note that humidity also plays a role so if your house cools to the proper temperatures, but then the humidity causes your house to heat up quickly, it could result in an on-again, off-again AC because it’s having to work harder to keep you cool and comfortable.

No matter your issue, whatever typical or atypical air conditioning problem you run into, Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here for you 24/7/365. We are available to you so we can get your A/C cooling and get your comfortable lickety-split.
